In the winter you can relax on the comfortable sofas in front of a blazing real log fire and during the summer months you can relax in the courtyard and soak up the sun in the airy conservatory, where you will find a functioning freshwater well that is said to date back to Roman times. Originally built by the 7th Duke of Bedford, Brown's most interesting feature is its ancient well that can now be found in its conservatory. Believed to have been constructed by the Romans, its fresh water still runs today and is bottled on the premises, available for you to try. Particularly renowned for its traditional Sunday lunches, the Brasserie features a varied menu of locally sourced meat, fish and vegetarian dishes, chosen and prepared by a professional chef. Lunch is available for around 15 GBP, with dinner costing approximately 35 GBP. Meals are also on offer in the bar area.
